An Artistic View of Martin & Osa Johnson’s World: April-July 2017

The museum is thrilled to host the artwork of Jim Sallenbach and Irene Schomacker. Jim and Irene were onsite in February selecting artifacts from the collections to interconnect with their art and the resulting show, An Artistic View of Martin & Osa Johnson’s World premiere on Saturday April 1st, 2017 and will run through July and the artists will generously donate a portion of any art sales to support the Safari Museum!

While onsite, artists Jim Sallenbach & Irene Schomacker also outlined their design plan for the museum’s Selsor Art Gallery, and used original copper book plates from Osa Johnson’s JUNGLE FRIENDS to create unique pieces that truly interconnect their own art with Martin & Osa’s legacy.  The exhibition is really unlike anything we’ve shown at the Safari Museum.

Here’s a peek at some of the works included, and a few shots of the artists both in residence selecting their pieces and during the installation process.

For more information on this show, or to find out how you can purchase any of the original art in the exhibition, please call 620-431-2730!
