An Artistic View of Martin & Osa Johnson’s World: Opens 4.1.17

The museum is thrilled to host the artwork of Jim Sallenbach and Irene Schomacker in Spring 2017. Jim and Irene were onsite in February selecting artifacts from the collections to interconnect with their art and the resulting show, An Artistic View of Martin & Osa Johnson’s World will premiere on Saturday April 1st, 2017.

While onsite, artists Jim Sallenbach & Irene Schomacker also outlined their design plan for the museum’s Selsor Art Gallery, and used original copper book plates from Osa Johnson’s JUNGLE FRIENDS to create unique pieces that truly interconnect their own art with Martin & Osa’s legacy.  The exhibition will really be unlike anything we’ve shown at the Safari Museum. This exhibition will run for three months and the artists will generously donate a portion of any art sales to support the Safari Museum!

Here’s a peek at some of the works to be included, and some shots of the artists in residence selecting their pieces!
